Thoubal, October 23 2026: Madrassa Jamia Islamia Sangaiyumpham vice-principal Md Najmuddin Qasmi urged the authorities concerned to apprehend all those responsible for the killing of Laishram Rakesh at the earliest.

He made the above appeal while addressing media persons during a press meet held today at Cherapur Makha Youth Development Association (CHMYDA) ground in Sangaiyumpham Part II .

The attendees observed two-minute silence in the honour of Laishram Rakesh and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.

Expressing concern over the situation arising after the incident that occurred during a musical event on the night of October 18 at CYSA Playground, he highlighted that immediate action should be taken up against those involved in the killing of Laishram Rakesh so as to maintain peace and harmony between Khangabok and Sangaiyumpham.

Md Najmuddin Qasmi further stated that the residents and local organisations of Sangaiyumpham have been extending full support in the pursuit for justice in connection with the death of Laishram Rakesh.

He further appealed to the Government, local MLA and civil society organisations (CSOs) to work together to resolve the incident and foster peaceful co-existence in the region and prevent unwanted incidents.
