The Committee on COVID-19 Manipur has asked the State Government to review the standard operating procedure (SOPs) of COVID-19 given the fresh surge of the contagion.
In a statement, the committee further asked if the State has relaxed the SOPs for the Assembly election.
Urging the State to prepare necessary items and manpower in advance so as to avoid shortage of testing kits, hospital beds, treatment centres, oxygen, dedicated staff and medicines as seen in the first and second wave of the pandemic, the statement appealed to the authority concerned to do the needful to prevent community transmission of Omicron variant.
The virus will spread at community level if there are lapses in the screening process, it said and further urged the State Government to screen all inbound passengers and hire additional staff if needed.
Asking the people to take equal responsibility in fighting the third wave, the committee added that the maintenance of Covid appropriate behavior has also dropped considerably.
The statement further urged all to get vaccinated against COVID-19 without hesitation.
