Imphal, January 17 2009: THE THADOU Students' Association (TSA) today set deadline on January 25 for translating into action the assurances given in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the students' body and the state government with regard to improving the shortages in the government junior and high schools located within the Sadar Hills.

Speaking at a press conference held in the office of the students' body at Motbung today, President Lanminlun Shingsit said during the year 2007 when the volunteers of the association inspected the government schools in Sadar Hills area, the conditions of the schools were found to be miserable with no adequate infrastructures.

Not contented with the conditions, the Association submitted a memorandum to the state Education Minister, L Jayentakumar, after which they sat together with the Minister and signed an MoU on October 27 last year.

As per the MoU, the Minister agreed to look into the matter and improve the conditions of the schools among others.

But the same has not been converted into action despite the agreement that it would be implemented within 15 days from signing of the MoU, he said.

In the meantime, he also said that the government has provided 60 percent infrastructures of the schools but delayed in providing the remaining 40 percent to the schools.

If the government failed to provide the remaining 40 percent require infrastructure within January 25, they will launch several forms of agitations, he warned.

He also informed that during the forthcoming HSLC exam, the students body will send out flying squad teams to check strudents from using unfair means.

If students are found using unfair means, the TSA will take up action against the OCs of examination, he warned.
