Imphal, April 16 2022: Noted social and cultural activist Rakesh Naorem has been conferred the prestigious South Asian Regional Countries Brilliance Award 2022 at the South Asian Regional Countries (SARC) Summit 2022 which has been going on since April 13 .

The award was presented to Rakesh Naorem today by Indra Bahadur, president of Nationalist People's Party (NPP), Kathmandu, Nepal.

It may be noted that the South Asian Regional Countries Brilliance Award 2022 are given out to noted personalities to honour them on the last day of the 4-day cultural summit today.

The cultural summit was held at Nepal Tourism Board Auditorium, Kathmandu and attended by delegates from the eight SARC countries, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The cultural summit was attended by former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Sujata Koirala who announced the commencement of the event with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

The event was also attended by former member of Ministry of Ayush, Dr Dinesh Upadhyay, Dr Rajiv Pal, founder director of World Book of Star Records, Siddhi Johri, Mrs India International 2019 and Santsree Bhattacharya, brand ambassador of World Book of Star Records as guests.

It is worth mentioning that Rakesh Naorem was conferred the SARC Brilliance Award 2022 in recognition of his contribution to the preservation of Manipuri culture for the last 15 years.

He was among the 74 selected for this year's award from a list of 6500 people working in different fields across the eight countries in SARC.

Rakesh Naorem has previously bagged the Humanity Achiever Award 2018, Nongpok Ningthou Distinguished Service Cash Award 2018, Bir Tikendrajit National Youth Award 2019, Humanitarian Excellent Award 2020, Indo-Bangla International Friendship Award 2021, Rashtriya Samaj Seva Ratana Award 2022 among others.

The cultural summit was jointly organised by World Book of Star Records, Vaikalpik Chikitsa Paddhati Vikas Sanstha, India and Bharat FM, Bharat Media LLC, Ohio USA.
