AR foils cross border smuggling attempt at Moreh

Assam Rifles intercepted a cross-border smuggling attempt along the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) in the border town of Moreh on November 6 and seized 100 kg of areca nuts.
As per a press note issued by IGAR (S), during night patrol, Assam Rifles troops observed suspicious movement as individuals attempted to cross the Indo-Myanmar Border.
Acting swiftly, the Assam Rifles personnel took tactically advantageous positions and secured the area.
A thorough search revealed two sacks of Burmese-origin areca nuts, weighing 100 kg, and valued at approximately Rs 86,400 in the international market.
The seized items were handed over to the Custom Preventive Force, Moreh.
