Over 900 hailstorm-hit people in relief camps: DC

In the aftermath of the recent intense hailstorm which rendered many homeless, Thoubal district administration has set up 12 relief camps, deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subash told newspersons at his office on Tuesday.
Stating that the district administration has received numerous reports of houses damaged and rooftops blown away by the hail-storm accompanied by violent winds, he informed that damage caused to 808
houses has been officially recorded till date.
The deputy commissioner also stated that around 962 people of 237 households have been provided temporary accommodation in 12 relief camps.
Expressing that similar reports of damages are likely to pour in, he advised those affected by the hailstorm to submit application along with photos of the destruction to office of Thoubal DC, nearest SDC or SDO office by Wednesday.
