Bishnupur, September 06 2026: A one-day discussion programme on the theme 'Umanglai Kansi, Kanglon Chumna Haraosi' was held at Ibudhou Loyalakpa Laibung in Yumnam Khunou under Bishnupur district today.

The discussion programme was organized by Umanglai Kanba Lup (UKAL) Bishnupur Pana.

Representatives of 135 Laibung from Utlou till Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district participated in today's discussion programme.

Speaking on the programme, UKAL Head Office general secretary Mutum Maniton stressed that UKAL has been striving earnestly to streamline the rituals of Lai Haraoba in view of the changing traditions in recent years.

To avoid unwanted outcomes and to preserve the sanctity of Lai Haraoba, efforts have been taken up by UKAL to raise awareness about the ancient rituals of Lai Haraoba across Bishnupur district, he said.

Stating that similar discussion programmes will be held in other places of the district, he called for active participation from the individuals concerned and locals of the region.

In today's programme, discussions were held on the unwanted add on to the ancient rituals and how to avoid such acts.
