Imphal, September 06 2014 :
Advocate Pukhrambam Arjun, an executive member of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), Manipur which is spearheading the ongoing public movement for implementation of Inner Line Permit system to check influx of outsiders, today walked free home from Sajiwa Jail following a local court to release him without any conditions.
Arjun, an advocate by profession, was arrested by Manipur Police here on the charge of having link with an underground organisation on July 22 .
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) had been demanding the authority for his unconditional release, saying he was not an underground member.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh invited JCILPS for talks on the ILP issue at his office chamber on September 4, but it was turned down by the committee, saying that it would not take part in the talks unless its executive member Arjun was released.
Meanwhile, JCILPS convenor Ibotombi Khuman said the committee will now accept invitation from the Government for talks on ILP issue.
