Ex-Dy CM accuses BJP of double standard
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, August 06 2018: Pointing out that BJP has been going together with a political party which has openly endorsed the demand for integration of Naga inhabited areas, ex-Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has accused BJP of practising double standard and double speak.

Gaikhangam was speaking at a felicitation function organised by Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee a Langol Tarung community hall on his induction as a regular member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) .

Even though the incumbent State Government has been swearing that they would not tolerate any solution worked out between NSCN-IM and the Government of India which harms Manipur, two political parties which stand diametrically opposite to each other on the Naga integration issue are partners of the coalition Government, he said.

It appears that BJP and the other political party have an understanding on certain conditions, Gaikhangam said without naming NPF.

Some 40/50 years back, RSS announced that all minority communities should be submerged into the majority community politically, socially and culturally.

Now the incumbent State Government has been working hard to realise what the RSS announced decades back, he alleged.

At one point of time, the leader of the incumbent Government was referred to as living Bir Tikendrajit but today he is referred to as living Shantidas Gosai, said Gaikhangam.

About 200/300 years back, one Shantidas Gosai came to Manipur and misled Maharaj Pamheiba.

Had the king not listened to Shantidas Gosai, Manipur would have never faced the present predicament, rued the ex-Deputy Chief Minister.

"Now there is a living Shantidas Gosai and all of us (Manipuris) might be wiped out' if we are not careful enough", Gaikhangam cautioned.

There is a growing fear for further degeneration of Manipuri culture, tradition and social practices.

When the wrongdoers are those running the Government, the results are often devastating, he warned.

Saying that the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN-IM and GoI has not been tabled in Parliament yet, the CWC member assured that Congress party will speak boldly against the Framework Agreement if it is tabled in the Parliament.

Whether it is Framework Agreement or Manipur University crisis or Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Congress party will speak in line with people's pulse and sentiment as and when they are tabled in Parliament, he said.

Even though the Framework Agreement has not been tabled in Parliament, it is a living document.

Congress party's position on the Framework Agreement is very clear that victimising a number of communities in the process of appeasing a few community is unacceptable.

The stubborn refusal of the Government of India to divulge the details of the Framework Agreement indicates that it contains something inimical to Manipur, Gaikhangam said.

He said that all the burning issues of the State were tabled and discussed at the CWC meeting held on August 3.He also decried how the Government of India has been stubbornly retaining Prof AP Pandey as the VC of Manipur University even after the entire MU community and the people of Manipur have rejected the man.

He urged the Government to think about the students and their career.

Congress spokesman Kh Joykisan remarked that there are roads in Imphal city which are not fit for movement even by "Gypsy although the incumbent Government has completed 18 months in office'.

Highlighting the sorry state of RIMS Road, Joykisan said that BJP should be given full credit for the same.

While overlooking the plight of thousands of students, the Government has been giving undue importance to a single individual, he decried.

The decision of MU community to launch indefinite hunger strike from August 10 will further aggravate the crisis, Joykisan said while questioning BJP's attitude of challenging the entire student community for the sake of a single individual.

BJP is not worried about loss of Manipur's territory, he alleged.

He then called upon all the people to stand united to abolish the political party responsible for loss of Manipur's territory and derailment of academic career of thousands of students.
