NCP legislator Laishom Ibomcha has claimed on Sunday criminals are being freed regularly after charging money in Manipur and that they are never given punishment at all.
Participating in a legal awareness programme at the Keishampat community hall, the lone NCP MLA also stated that the surge in crime rate in the State was unquestionably related to failure of the law courts to punish criminals and put them behind bars.
The programe was jointly organized by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), Keishamthong Area Committee (KAC) and All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM).
The Keishamthong constituency MLA claimed that criminals are being freed regularly in the State after charging money for the crimes they have committed.
Referring to the recent Khwairamband Keithel temporary market shed bomb blast, Ibomcha said though the Manipur Government was claiming to have arrested persons involved in the case, they had not yet been given any punishment.
