Imphal, January 05 2025:
The armed National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) extended revolutionary greetings to the people of Manipur in connection with its 13th Raising Day falling on January 7, saluted all armed organisations fighting to regain the lost sovereignty of Manipur and extended solidarity to suffering of the people in the course of revolutionary movement.
According to NRFM chairman Maliya Konthoujam, Government of India has been employing various strategies similar to the Chinese opium war and the Vietnam war formula to lengthen its grip on Manipur after failing to suppress the revolutionary movement through fake encounters and excessive use of military prowess.
To weaken the indigenous people of Manipur, the government of India devised plan to overwhelm the indigenous population with outsiders, which is evident from sharp decline in the number of indigenes in Manipur at present, Maliya said in his message adding that Manipur's economy is in complete ruins regardless of the masses' yearning for establishing an egalitarian society.
Maliya said India's long suppressive policy not only made people of Manipur tardy but also forced to rely on India's money and goods.
Continuing the message, the NRFM chairman cautioned that wriggling out of the protracted suppression will be impossible in case the society as a whole do not boldly face the threat and suppression.
Many revolutionary groups are fighting to restore the lost sovereignty of Manipur and NRFM too joined the movement based on socialist ideology, he reasoned.
Maliya further said that Manipur lost its sovereign status after the defeat in the Anglo-Manipuri war of 1891 but regained freedom in 1947 and had a democratically elected government then.
However, India annexed Manipur in 1949 without the approval of the people and the then democratically elected government.
This is the origin of revolutionary movement in Manipur, Maliya said.
While reminding people about the treacherous policy and diabolic intentions of India to divide Manipur, the NRFM chairman remarked that India continues to adopt various means to uproot Manipuri society completely.
