Imphal, November 01 2009: Yet another non-local hailing from West Bengal shot dead by miscreants today at about 8 am at Takyel Khongbal near the Ideal Blind School under Lamphel police station of Imphal west district taking the non-local killed to two in the last three day.

Taking serious note on the re-start of attacking to the non-locals and migrant labourers, Senior SP, Imphal west district, L Kailun asked them to stay and work within the Municipality areas/Imphal Bazar area only.

The non-local identified as Md Kalam Shiekh (35) son of late Md Loskori Sheikh of Samsherbad of West Bengal's Murshidabad district who was hit by three bullets at his body when two miscreants shot at him thrice.

The two miscreants shot him while he was moving on the road with his rickshaw for collecting iron scraps.

He was an iron scrap collector and he came to the state around 10 year back and resided at a rented house at Pandon.

Kalam succumbed to his bullet injury on the way to hospital.

After he fell down from his rickshaw when hit after miscreants fired at him on him, he was immediately rushed to the hospital but before reaching hospital, he died, reports said.

On October 31 also a non-local butcher, a residence of Utter Pradesh was shot dead by miscreants at Wangoo in Bishnupur district which could be speculated as starting striking to the non-locals in the state again.

The attack on the life of non-locals was after a gap of around three months.

Over 23 non-locals have been killed apart from injuring to many others in the series of attacks on the non-locals during the current year 2009 since the first incident of attack on them occurred on February 28 when a barber are shot dead his saloon.

Considering the attack on their life, senior SP, Imphal west, L Kailun in a statement today asked the non-locals and migrant labourers to stay and work only in the Municipality and Imphal Bazar area and not to venture out in the far-flung and interior areas to avoid untoward incidents.

The Senior SP further informed the general public to inform the district police about the presence of non-Manipuris/migrant workers in their houses/areas/localities so that collective security can be provided.
