Infant boy among 14 deaths; 869 fresh cases reported in state

Imphal, May 31 2021:
An 18-month-old boy from Imphal West district has become the youngest victim of Covid-19 after the kid died of Covid related complications at RIMS hospital.
On Monday, government bulletins reported 869 new positive cases and 14 fatalities and took the tally of total infected people to over 50,000 and deaths to 800- plus.
The caseload has reached 8791 on Monday.
While 4748 are recuperating in home isolation or CHICs the remaining 4043 are undergoing treatment at healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
The last seven days reported 6124 new cases and 102 fatalities while 19,165 new cases and 402 fatalities were added in May alone.
On the other hand, 22,563 positive cases and 4523 fatalities were reported since the beginning of the current year.
The 14 fatalities reported on Monday included a 60-year-old male (CCpur), a 56-year-old male (IE), a 94-year-old male (BPR), a 45-year-old female (Kak), a 60-year-old male (IW), a 66-year-old female (IW), a 45-year-old male (Kak), an 18-month-old male (IW), a 65-year-old female (IW), a 64-year-old male (IW), a 53-year-old female (IW), a 40-year-old female (IE), a 72-year-old male (IE) and a 60-year-old female (IW) who died at DH Churachandpur (1), Babina (1), DH Bishnupur (1), Shija Hospital (4), RIMS (4) and JNIMS (3) hospital respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths is 807.According to official reports, the 869 new cases included 866 people (420 male & 446 female) from among the general population and 3 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were confirmed positive for Covid-19 at RIMS (30), JNIMS (238), District Hospitals (264) and other private testing centres (337).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (312), Imphal West (250), Thoubal (56), Bishnupur (61), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (8), Churachandpur (98), Chandel (8), Senapati (25), Tamenglong (12), Kangpokpi (13), Jiribam (4) and Kamjong (4).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 546 patients were discharged from CAPF (1), home isolation (415), RIMS (13), BB (19), NSU (5), SHRI (3), LANVA (5), RD Wing (13), RAJMED (2), Babina Speciality Hospital (3), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (26), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (6), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (7), Chandel (3), Senapati (2) and Ukhrul (4).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 50,751 (general population - 46,991 and CAPF personnel - 3,760).Number of recovered cases is 41,153 (general population - 37,447 and CAPF personnel - 3,706) and number of active cases is 8,791 (general population - 8,742 and CAPF personnel - 49).The recovery rate is 81.08 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1301 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 550 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
District Hospitals and government institutions have 329D, 69B filled cylinders and the district wise allocation is Bishnupur (44D,7B), Chandel (34D,8B), Churachandpur (73D,0B), Senapati (41D,0B), Thoubal (32D,22B), Ukhrul (11D,7B), Tamenglong (26D,5B), Jiribam (36D,11B), Moreh (17D,5B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (4D,0B), Kakching (2D,0B; 7D, 22B send for refilling), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (4D,3B).So far, 3,82,534 individuals have been administered vaccine against Covid-19 and 80,172 of them have received the second dose.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (18,147), Imphal East (11,866), Thoubal (3694), Churachandpur (3656), Kangpokpi (1448), Tamenglong (1810), Bishnupur (2789), Senapati (1215), Ukhrul (1140), Kakching (2154), Chandel (866), Noney (506), Tengnoupal (516), Jiribam (466), Kamjong (403) and Pherzawl (75) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (308), Imphal East (211), Thoubal (76), Churachandpur (62), Kangpokpi (20), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (52), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (11), Kakching (35), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 16,355 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 20,226 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,31,336 tests per million population against the national average of 2,47,688 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 5058 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 17.18 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.07 per cent.
