Manipur would be hosting the first ever 5 day zonal mime theatre festival under the aegis of Kanglei Mime Repertory Theatre (KMRT),a premier mime group in eastern India at Government Dance College campus at palace compound in Imphal fromNovember 24 to 28 .
Director of KMRT Dr Yumnam Sadananda disclosing this to media here said that mime groups from neighbouring Assam,West bengal,Bihar,Hyderabad and Rajasthan besides the host groups would be participating in the ensuing festival.
Interestingly five deaf students of Manipur depicting the positive but meaningful acts of naughty boys, would also be performing a 30 minute mime play called 'Class Room' on the third day of the festival while famous mime artiste from Assam Moidul Haque,the SNA awardee in Mime would also be presenting 8 different mime plays including 'Childhood of Moinul','I love You Moinul' and 'Moinul in Buffet etc.
Similarly KMRT's play dedicated to Irom Chanu Sharmila 'Mirel Masingkha" would also staged during the festival, Dr Sadananda said.
The other mime plays to be staged during the festival include West Benagl based National awardee Kalpatraru's 'Cricket',Hyderabad based Madhusudan's "Dream, fisherman humanity" and Manipur based H Tombi's "Blood sucker".
Besides the mime plays, mime production,mime workshop,mime photo exhibition and mime video screening would also be salient features of the five festival.
