Angami raises poser to State Govt

The Angami Public Organisation (APO) based in Nagaland has requested the government of Manipur to come out from its 'prejudices' and cooperate with all concerned so as to jointly root out anti-social elements "regardless of state boundaries" .
"APO as a matured organization shall give all its support and solicit for conducive atmosphere if the authorities concerned shows interest and work to safeguard and protect the common public," said the APO statement issued to Newmai News Network jointly signed by its president Keniengunyu Sekhose and its joint secretary Vipopal Kintso regarding the drugging of a driver and hijacking of a Tata Mobile mini truck.
However, the APO takes strong exception of the utterance made by Manipur Legislative Assembly, Opposition member, I.Ibohanbi Singh on the floor of the house wherein he had reportedly stated that, "some organizations in Nagaland and Manipur were imposing blockade even for petty issues" .
According to the APO, Ibohanbi had also stated that "it was time to teach those who disturbed normal traffic on national highways a lesson" .
"APO would like to draw the attention of the Manipur Government that June 21 incident where two persons from Nagaland were drugged and the Tata Mobile taken away was not merely a case of vehicle theft because the two victims would not have survived if not fortunate and timely medical attention was administered.
Thus, it was a case of attempted murder.
Besides, it was not an isolated case as in the past too a number of people from Nagaland were abducted and killed in Manipur," the Angami apex body said today.
APO wonders if the criminals should be taught lessons or verge out against the aggrieved.
The Angami body then said that it was evident that authorities in Manipur is displaying total lack of seriousness and refuse to cooperate with Nagaland law officers.
"It is also astonishing to learn that those suspects taken into custody in connection with the crime even when identified by the victims through photographs were released on bail," the APO stated.
Meanwhile, the 96-hour bandh imposed by the Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) is underway without any untoward incident.
SAYO president Peter alias Seyievilie expressed regret for creating inconviniences to the general public due to the bandh.
He appeals the people to bear with the bandh imposters saying, "We have no other alternative but to impose bandh so that a lesson is taught to the anti-social elements so that they do not continue with their activities in future" .
Four persons from Manipur hired a Tata Mobile mini truck from a Kohima parking on June 21 to go to Manipur.
On reaching Tadubi in Senapati district (Manipur) the four miscreants drugged the driver of the vehicle and his friend and dumped the two there.
The four miscreants took away the vehicle.
The driver has been identified as one Keneinguto Mejura.
