Imphal, July 30 2025:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC), which had earlier called a bandh along Tiddim Road on July 31 in protest against the death of Moirangthem Ranjit, has officially withdrawn the agitation following a mutual agreement reached with the Management Committee of ASIAN Hospital.
The announcement was made by JAC convenor L Premila Leima during a press conference held at the Office of Development and Protection United Voluntary Organisation, Nambol, in the presence of both deceased's family members and the Asian Hospital Management Committee.
Premila stated that the agreement was reached after the hospital management requested the JAC to hold discussions with the family members.
As a result, the deceased's body, which had remained unclaimed for several days due to alleged medical negligence, will now be claimed and the last rites will be performed.
She further stated that both parties have come to a mutual understanding to ensure that such unfortunate incidents do not recur in the future.
With this assurance, the JAC decided to withdraw the bandh.
