World Tourism Day celebrated

As observed across the globe, World Tourism Day was celebrated at Moirang Kangla under the theme "Tourism and Peace".
Organised by Manipur Tourism Foundation, the event witnessed the attendance of A Sharatchandra Sharma, retired Principal Moirang College; Konjengbam Mohonchandra Singh, secretary, Manipur Tourism Foundation; Mairembam Lokendro Singh, retired District Fishery Officer Bishnupur and senior citizen Hemam Manglem Singh as presidium members.
In the context of Manipur, the theme "Tourism and Peace" is very appropriate, said Konjengbam Mohonchandra Singh.
Highlighting the significance of Moirang as a tourist and cultural hot-spot, he stressed on the need to build infrastructure here to improve tourism.
Explaining how tourism can bring peace, he said that a burgeoning tourism sector can foster interaction between people from different comers of the Nation and lead to an increase in understanding and harmony among the people.
