Imphal, October 25 2024: A book titled "Sarik (Tolling the Bell for Equality)" published by All Manipur Nupi Maanbi Association (AMANA) was released today in a function held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.

Additionally, a media interaction programme was also conducted.

The programme was organised with the support of Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice and SAATHI.

Speaking on the occasion, AMANA secretary Shanta Khurai said that "Sarik" is a comprehensive legal handbook on transgender lives, human rights and law.

Shanta expressed hope that the book will be hugely beneficial to the transgender community and added that the book features stories of 10 individuals.

Shanta also stressed on the need to spread awareness about transgender rights and law to prevent & reduce violence against the transgender community.

Community resource person Delay Sinam and clinical psychologist Paonam Thoibi were also present at the event.
