Imphal, May 25 2021: As the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic continues to surge, the state on Tuesday reported yet another record single day spike of 824 new positive cases out of 3788 samples tested in the last 24 hours while 15 more patients lost the battle to Covid-19 in the same period.

With the addition of 824 new cases and discharge of 468 patients, the active caseload has reached 6785 .

While 4499 patients are in home isolation the remaining 2286 patients are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.

With 15 new deaths, the cumulative number of fatalities has reached 720 .

The 15 victims reported on Tuesday included a 55-year old male (IE), a 51-year old female (IE), a 48-year old male (IW), an 80-year old male (BPR), a 69-year old male (IW), a 40-year old male (IW), a 61-year old male (IW), a 64-year old male (IW), a 64-year old female (IE), a 52-year old male (Kak), a 55-year old female (Tbl), an 86-year old female (IW), a 53-year old female (IW), a 73-year old male (IW) and a 65-year old female (IE) who died at Babina (3), DH Bishnupur (1), Shija Hospitals (6), RIMS (3) and JNIMS (2) hospital respectively.

The last seven days reported 4768 new cases and 108 fatalities while 13,865 new cases and 315 fatalities were reported during the current month.

On the other hand, 17,263 positive cases and 365 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.

According to official reports, all the 824 new positive cases (397 male & 427 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at JNIMS (78), District Hospitals (439) and other private testing centres (307) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (168), Imphal West (361), Thoubal (36), Bishnupur (43), Kakching (92), Ukhrul (16), Churachandpur (67), Chandel (3), Senapati (15), Tamenglong (7), Tengnoupal (4), Kamjong (3), Noney (1) and Pherzawl (8).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 468 patients were discharged from home isolation (367), RIMS (2), LANVA (9), BB (6), NSU (4), SHRI (14), Babina Speciality Hospital (2), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (22), RAJMED (1), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (27) and Senapati (1).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 45,451 (general population - 41,724 and CAPF personnel - 3,727).Number of recovered cases is 37,946 (general population - 34,314 and CAPF personnel - 3,632) and number of active cases is 6785 (general population - 6695 and CAPF personnel - 90) .

The recovery rate is 83.48 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1184 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 600 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities.

District Hospital and Government institutions have 173D, 58B, and district wise stock position is Bishnupur (30D,0B), Chandel (18D,4B), Churachandpur (17D,2B), Senapati (19D,0B), Thoubal (26D,13B), Ukhrul (14D,0B), Tamenglong (5D,0B), Jiribam (20D,11B), Moreh (SD,6B), Mao (4D,6B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B) Kakching (1D,8B), Pherzawl (4D,5B) Noney (0D,2B).So far, 3,52,651 individuals have been administered vaccine against Covid-19 but only 79,851 of them have received the second dose.

Meanwhile, 26 new positive cases have been detected during RAT conducted in Kakching district on Tuesday.

Three cases were confirmed at Jivan Hospital, five at Ema Hospital and 19 at government RAT centre.

Two of them are from Thoubal district while the remaining 24 are from Kakching district.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (16,411), Imphal East (10,549), Thoubal (3292), Churachandpur (3173), Kangpokpi (1394), Tamenglong (1679), Bishnupur (2404), Senapati (988), Ukhrul (1057), Kakching (1869), Chandel (838), Noney (497), Tengnoupal (482), Jiribam (398), Kamjong (372) and Pherzawl (48).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (279), Imphal East (185), Thoubal (72), Churachandpur (54), Kangpokpi (19), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (47), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (8), Kakching (26), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 14,647 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 19,483 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,21,980 tests per million population against the national average of 2,38,911 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3788 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 21.75 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.60 per cent.
