Covid committee holds mass awareness programme

Imphal, July 23 2021:
Committee on Covid-19, Manipur (CADA, UPF, NIPCO, AMSU, and MAPI Council) organised mass awareness on Covid-19 on the theme 'Do vaccination, stay safe from Covid-19; Vaccination is the only way to fight COVID-19; Maintain SOP, Stay safe & healthy and Lets fight COVID-19 together' at several areas in Imphal East, Thoubal and Kakching districts on Friday.
The areas covered included Lamlong, Top Moirang Kampu, Sanjenbam, Takhel, Shangsabi, Kambongput, Kamuching, Napet Palli, Nongdam, Nongdren, Nongpok Kakching, Leimakhong Mapal, Chana, Yaingangpokpi, Pungdongbam, Itam Nunggoi, Yourabung, Sekta, Keibi, Taretkhul, Uyumpok, Nungshum, Uyumpok, Pukhao Ahallup, Naharup, Lamboikhul, Tiger Camp, Wakha, Sagolmang, Yumnam Patlou, Sambei, Chingkhu, Haraorou, Tangkham, Khundrakpam, Pangei, Haotal and Heikrumakhong in Imphal East; Pallel, Khongjom, Langathel, Phundrei, Heirok, Wangjing, Salungpham, Ukhongshang, Sikhong Sekmai, Lourembam, Langmeithek, Thokchom, Icham Khunou, Charangpat, Nepra, Thiyam, Waithou, Thoubal Haokha, Thoubal Keithel, Khangabok and Wangjing Keithel in Thoubal district; and Keirak, Kakching Keithel and Kakching Lamkhai in Kakching district.
In a release, Committee on Covid-19 media coordinator Geetchandra Mangang said that the locals were briefed on the benefits of vaccination and importance of following the safety protocols through audio recordings.
He pointed out that Covid-19 could not be defeated if people are ignorant about gravity of the situation and remain complacent.
All those who show symptoms should get tested and not hide their illness as it could further lead to more critical situation.
Early detection and treatment could save precious lives, he added.
Urging all eligible people to get vaccinated against Covid-19 without fail, he exhorted the people not to believe in rumours being spread on social media about Covid-19 vaccine.
There is no way other than vaccination to combat the pandemic.
People should also strictly follow SOP guidelines laid down by the WHO, Health Department and Home Department for containing the spread of the pandemic, he continued, while adding that frontline warriors including doctors, nurses, health care workers and police should be respected for their roles in combating the infectious virus.
