TPR below 6 pc, recovery 96.61 pc, four die

Imphal, September 18 2021: For the first time after around five months, the daily positivity rate fell below 6 per cent on Saturday with government bulletins reporting four death cases and 140 new positive cases of Covid 19 out of 2425 samples tested.

The test positivity rate was recorded at 5.77 per cent.

The daily positivity rate crossed 6 per cent in the last part of April this year when the second wave of the pandemic hit the state.

Meanwhile, Friday reported five fatalities and 208 new cases out of 2713 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 7.67 per cent.

The active caseload came down to 2180 out of which 406 (18.62 per cent) are in home isolation, 560 (25.69 per cent) in CHICs, 811 (37.20 per cent) in CCCs and 403 (18.49 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 85 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 191 are on oxygen support and 27 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS though it has 160 patients.

On the other hand, there are six patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Saturday evening, 565 beds including 109 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Friday evening 2659 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 378 beds (21 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 88,861 positive cases and 1456 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 4328 new cases and 48 fatalities out of which 1362 new cases and 21 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 140 new positive cases included 135 civilians (73 male & 62 female) and 5 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

The cases were detected at RIMS (1), JNIMS (21) and other testing centres (118) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (20), Imphal West (61), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (10), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (13), Churachandpur (7), Chandel (8), Senapati (2), Kamjong (2) and Kangpokpi (7) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 4 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The district wise distributions are Imphal West (1), Thoubal (1) and Churachandpur (2).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1830.Out of the four victims, one had received 2nd dose of Covid vaccine.

In the last 24 hours, 228 patients were discharged from home isolation (79), RIMS (6), JNIMS (12), CCCs (97) and CHICs(34) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,18,261 (general population - 1,14,030 and CAPF personnel - 4,231).Number of recovered cases is 1,14,251 (general population - 1,10,084 and CAPF personnel - 4,167) and number of active cases is 2,180 (general population - 2,121 and CAPF personnel -59) .

The recovery rate is 96.61 per cent.

A total of 4211 vaccine doses were administered on Friday taking the cumulative number or vaccinated individuals to 12,13,267 which included 4,07,507 fully vaccinated individuals.

As of Friday, 103,137 eligible people are yet to get the second shot of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, four new positive cases were detected out of 62 samples tested in Kakching district on Saturday.

One was detected at Jivan Hospital and the other three at government RAT sites.

Earlier on Friday, two cases were detected out of 41 samples tested.

All are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching Dr Kesho.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (40,417), Imphal East (26,142), Thoubal (9275), Churachandpur (9930), Kangpokpi (2727), Tamenglong (3235), Bishnupur (8907), Senapati (2166), Ukhrul (2584), Kakching (6301), Chandel (2240), Noney (1057), Tengnoupal (1029), Jiribam (1014), Kamjong (805) and Pherzawl (432) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (608), Imphal East (431), Thoubal (168), Churachandpur (156), Kangpokpi (57), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (185), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (31), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 38,112 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,945 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,07,452 tests per million population against the national average of 3,94,423 TPM.

Case fatality rate rose to 1.55 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2425 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 5.77 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 9.35 per cent.
