State logs record daily cases, TPR

Imphal, January 11 2022:
After nearly three months, the state recorded highest number of daily cases and test positivity rate (TPR) on Tuesday as Imphal West district topped the chart with 39 infections and Noney district witnessed highest TPR of 10 per cent.
In the last 24 hours one patient from Imphal East district, who had comorbidities and received first dose of the vaccine, also succumbed to Covid-19, taking the total number of fatalities in the state to 2012 .
Out of the total of 116 fresh cases, 99 persons comprising 63 males infected with the viral disease are from among the general population while 17 are personnel of central armed police force (CAPF) .
As per the daily update of government bulletins, the positive cases are residents of Imphal East (24), Imphal West (33), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (3), Tamenglong (1), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (3), Noney (1), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (4), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (2).The cases were confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (17) and other testing centres (98).For the record, the last time the state registered 100-plus cases was on October 23, 2021 when 122 persons were infected and the TPR recorded at 5.88 per cent.
The pandemic situation had been improving gradually since October 24 when the daily cases and TPR dropped to 63 and 3.57 per cent respectively before the cases crossed the 100 mark on Tuesday.
In what could be termed as continuation of another disturbing trend of the pandemic only Pherzawl, Jiribam and Kamjong districts had no positive cases out of the total of 2283 samples tested in the last 24 hours compared to maximum of 4-5 districts affected for the past few weeks.
With one person found positive for Covid-19 out of 10 samples tested, Noney registered highest TPR while Ukhrul had lowest case of infection at 1.6 per cent with one person confirmed as the vector out of 63 samples examined.
Subsequent to discharge of only 14 patients from home isolation (6), JNIMS (3) and CCCs (5), the state's caseload rose to 539 including 465 general population, and the recovery rate dropped to 97.98 per cent from 98.06 per cent on Monday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,944 positive cases and 1638 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 556 new positive cases and 10 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and fatalities has also risen to 501 and 8 respectively.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,26,3448 (general population -1,21,831 and CAPF personnel - 4,513) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,793 (general population - 1,19,359 and CAPF personnel - 4,434) and number of active cases is 539 (general population - 465 and CAPF personnel - 74).A total of 460 D-type and 86 B-type Oxygen cylinders were provided to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
On the other-hand, record number of 6560 beneficiaries received the Covid-19 vaccines on Monday compared to only 928 people jabbed the previous day.
The cumulative number of vaccinated individuals reached 23,56,145 out of which 13,45,049 have been fully vaccinated and 590 received the precautionary dose.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,348), Imphal East (28,078), Thoubal (9535), Churachandpur (10,257), Kangpokpi (2802), Tamenglong (3288), Bishnupur (9262), Senapati (2276), Ukhrul (3021), Kakching (6468), Chandel (2375), Noney (1083), Tengnoupal (1080), Jiribam (l039), Kamjong (959) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (675), Imphal East (482), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (63), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (45), Kakching (116), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
