Covid uptick continues, nine new cases detected

Imphal, July 04 2022: The resurgence of Covid-19 continued in the state as Monday reported nine more new positive cases of the viral disease, out of 155 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus, registering 5.81 per cent positivity rate.

The nine fresh cases (6 male & 3 female) are residents of Imphal West (8) and Thoubal (1) districts.

Monday also reported three recoveries from home isolation whereas no death case was reported in the last 24 hours.

Number of active cases rose to 49 out of which 42 are in home isolation.

Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2120 lives including seven CAPF personnel and infected 1,37,306 individuals in the state.

The virus has claimed lives of 194 vaccinated people, out of which 61 had received second doses of Covid vaccine.

There are 14 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 47 in RIMS.

So far, the state has recorded 11,518 positive cases and 118 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.

The current month has reported 36 new positive cases and zero fatality.

The cumulative positivity rate for the current month is 8.67 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 29 D-type and 14 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 128 vaccine doses administered taking the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 15,93,637, out of which 12,59,603 had received second doses and 1,12,455 had taken precautionary doses.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48794), Imphal East (30468), Thoubal (10162), Churachandpur (11054), Kangpokpi (3137), Tamenglong (3478), Bishnupur (9844), Senapati (2493), Ukhrul (3279), Kakching (6896), Chandel (2727), Noney (1161), Tengnoupal (1201), Jiribam (1111), Kamjong (1036), and Pherzawl (465).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,249 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,927 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 5,20,498 tests per million population against the national average of 6,14,018 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate stands 98.42 per cent.

The cumulative positivity rate also stands 8.50 per cent.
