Education minister launches digital class recording studios

Imphal, October 01 2021: Digital class recording studios have been set up five government colleges to facilitate the conduct of online classes, education minister Sorokhaibam Rajen has stated.

He made the statement as chief guest during the inaugural function of a digital class recording studio at DM College of Teacher Education (DMCTE) here on Friday.

Rajen said that schools and colleges have been conducting online classes to make up for the loss of physical classes which have long been put to a stop due to the pandemic.

For the first phase, digital class recording studios have been opened in five government colleges including DMCTE, Imphal College, GP Women's College, YK College and SK Women's College.

Efforts are underway to open similar studios in other government colleges as well, he added.

On the other hand, smart phones are being distributed to BPL students under the CM e-support scheme to facilitate them attend online classes properly.

So far, smart phones have been distributed to around 2000 students in Tamenglong, Chandel and Churachandpur districts, he further said.

Urging teachers to shoulder responsibility in line with the efforts of the government for the students, Rajen said that teachers have a huge role to play in shaping the future pillars of the society.

The inaugural function was also, attended by University and Higher Education director Dr N Rangitabali Waikhom, Higher Education Department joint director T Ojit and DMCTE principal Akoijam Sorodhoni.

In Thoubal district, the Digital Class Recording Studio has been established at YK College, Wangjing under the Directorate of University & Higher Education.

Education minister Rajen inaugurated the studio on Friday in the presence of University & Higher Education director Dr Rangitabali Waikhom and YK College principal Dr Soibam Giri.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Rajen expressed confidence that availability of such studios will help in the successful implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 in the state.

The government during the present pandemic is not only focusing on health sector but also keenly working to stop any decline in education sector, he said and commended the Directorate of University & Higher Education's report that seven colleges of the state including YK College will receive NAAC accreditation by next year.
