Imphal, March 16 2015:
Keishamthong constituency MLA L Ibomcha on Monday urged the Manipur Assembly that the United Naga Council (UNC) should be declared as an "unlawful organization" for making offensive statements against the State Government.
Raising a call motion in the House, the lone NCP MLA said the UNC has repeatedly warned the State Government on the need for settlement with the committee to ensure peace and stability in Manipur.
"UNC should be declared as an unlawful organization for making such provoking statements against the Manipur Government," Ibomcha demanded.
In his reply to the call motion, Home Minister Gaikhangam acknowledged the UNC remarks as akin to insulting of the Government.
In a separate call motion raised by Mao constituency MLA Dikho, the House was informed that Nagaland has allegedly encroached upon some 10 km-long land area in Senapati district's Koziri and Dzuko Valley.
Dikho insisted that it has been established that some people from neighbouring Nagaland encroached on Manipur's land in Koziri and Dzuko Valley area.
He urged the State Government to send a ministerial team to this disputed area to look into the matter.
A team led by the concerned SDO had recently visited Dzuko Valley to oversee the situation arising out of the reported encroachment by Nagaland, Gaikhangam informed the House replying to the call motion.
He assured that the State Government will further look into the matter.
