Lions Club of Imphal observes World Service Week

The Lions Club of Imphal observed "World Service Week" at BB Paul Mental Development Home, Mongsangei yesterday with the club donating 5 bags of rice, 1 bag of potato, grain, edible oil and other items to the home.
Lion W Sumitra Devi, president Lions Club of Imphal, Lion L Sharat Singh, secretary Lions Club of Imphal, MJF Lion H Manikumar Singh, Chongtham Ningol RK Ongbi Pramodini Devi, president All Manipur Mentally Handicap Persons Welfare Organisation and Yumnam Ibechoubi Devi, secretary All Manipur Mentally Handicap Persons Welfare Organisation attended the event as presidium members, said a statement of Lion M Manas Singh yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Lion Sharat Singh expressed that Lions Club of Imphal has been serving for the upliftment of human society and observance of "World Service Week is a part of it.
The club raised funds through donation from its members and used it to purchase the items that were distributed, he said conveyed the statement.
October 8 is observed as "World Service Day" by Lions Clubs, in commemoration of the first National Convention of Lions Club, held at Texas on 8 October, 1917 .
The Lions Club of Imphal appreciated the selfless service of the management of the Welfare Organization and teachers of BB Paul Mental Development Home for their service towards special need children.
President of Lions Club of Imphal, Lion W Sumitra Devi said that the club will continue with the programme to reach out to more such homes in future.
The children of the home presented a yoga demonstration on the occasion, said the statement.
