Family receives ex-gratia nearly a year after Jagat killed

Family of Thouchom Jagat (23) s/o Th Suresh finally received ex-gratia from the State Government on January 31 nearly a year after he was killed.
Confirming that the family received the ex-gratia, Thangmeiband United Club (TMC), vice president, Pratap Leishangthem in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club yesterday said Jagat was shot dead by some car borne individuals in his own locality- Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai in the intervening night of March 2 and 3 last year.
Pratap conveyed that several CSOs, public, womenfolk of Thangmeiband extended their helping hands to family members.
After much effort of almost a year, the ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh has been transferred to the account of the deceased's mother on January 31, he said and opined that such compensation should be delivered early.
Jagat's farther lauded the JAC for its support and Thangmeiband United Club for its role in ensuring released of the amount.
He maintained that the assurance given by the Chief Minister to give a job to one of the family members is yet to be fulfilled.
