Sit-ins, human chain protest Salungpham incident

Imphal, December 20 2024: Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) along with Thongn-gak Lairembi Masaikol Apunba Nupi Lup, Game Village Zone-IV staged a sit-in protest on Friday against the killing of village volunteer Laishram Prem and arrest of six others on December 14 at Salungpham.

During the sit-in, the protestors chanted slogans like "We condemn killing of village volunteers", " Punish police commandos who killed village volunteers", "Police commandos need not show courage to Meetei", "Show courage to narco-terrorists not Meetei", and "Repeal AFSPA 1958 immediately" .

Khurai Lamlong Apunba Nupi Lup also organised sit-in protest at Lamlong Keithel on Friday in denunciation of the killing of the village volunteer and arresting six others.

During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with slogans condemning the killing, demanding unconditional release of the arrested village volunteers, punishment of the police commando involved and immediate repeal of AFSPA from the state.

Students of NG Mani College also carried out a human chain protest along the Uripok-Kangchup road condemning the killing of 18-year old student village volunteer Laishram Prem by police at Salungpham village on December 14.The students shouted slogans condemning the killing of a student and demanded the resignation of the chief minister.
