Cong eyes 45 seats in 2022 polls, calls BJP visionless

Imphal, July 17 2021: Maintaining that the public are well aware of the fact that the BJP government has no vision despite being in power for the last seven years, AICC's CWC member and former deputy chief minister Gaikhangam has said that Congress party is eyeing a target of 45 seats in the forthcoming state assembly elections in 2022.Interacting with the media on Sunday, Gaikhangam said that ups and downs happen in the journey of all political parties.

However, one cannot ignore the fact that Congress party played major role in the freedom struggle and the country was able to move towards development under the leadership of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

It was the works and dedication of Congress party that the country is getting a respectable place among the international communities today.

The public are well aware of the difference between Congress and non-Con-gress governments.

People have lost their faith in BJP during its seven years of rule and the country has lost its position (elevated by Congress) in the last seven years.

Policies and activities of the BJP government are the testimonies of its lack of vision for a better India.

The public are suffering from price hike of fuel and essential commodities, GST, farm laws, downfall in economy and other issues under the BJP government, Gaikhangam said.

On the other hand, Congress party is doing whatever it could for the people.

The party is donning the role of a responsible opposition and showing that it is not a power hungry party.

The Congress wants the government to adopt the right policy for the welfare of the country, state and the public.

Today, the party is working from the grassroots level and improving relation with the public and Congress does not believe in publicity.

The BJP government was formed forcibly and flouting constitutional norms.

It is a government formed by a minority party without giving the chance to the majority and such illegal acts cannot be repeated twice.

BJP will not return to power in the next term, he said.

Regarding MLAs holding office of profit, Gaikhangam said that the party believes in the sanctity and wisdom of the Supreme Court.

The High Court had already termed the appointment of MLAs as parliamentary secretaries illegal, he pointed out, while expressing hope that the apex court will definitely uphold the judgment of the high court during the hearing of the case on July 26 .
