All indigenous people must oppose CAB: CorCom-II

The vigorous push for Trans-Asian Highway/Asian Highway-I, International Trade Centre and Special Economic Zones (SEZ) under the Indo-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (IAFTA) would eventually prove to be a serious threat to the identity of indigenous people, Chaoren cautioned.
Any area notified as SEZ would be seen as a foreign territory from the perspective of trade and commerce.
All the workers, employees and their activities in SEZs would not be bound by the laws of Manipur or India but by separate trade and international laws.
Elections are important in a democracy but it would be gross error to claim that elections lay foundations for vibrant society.
The status of democracy followed in a country or State must be taken into account.
Like in the past, the recent election was also a big festival.
Youngsters, men and women took part in the election as if they were totally intoxicated.
Over the years, elections have become a source of malady for all the indigenous people of the land.
By enforcing code of conduct in connection with 'undemocratic' elections in the land where there strong movements for self-determination and against AFSPA, public opinions are not allowed to take shape and all public spheres are weakened.
As the same time, most political parties and politicians do not have the spirit and zeal tackle and resolve any major issue of the land.
There is nothing the masses can expect from them.
While elections dehumanise Manipuri society, the politicians always work in their self-interest for personal aggrandisement, asserted the CorCom convenor.
WESEA has been already recognised as a region of political conflict and it is one region where there is maximum number of revolutionary movements against GoI.
In response, GoI has been investing huge amounts to create discords and conflicts among different communities of WESEA.
In the name of development, cultural, economic and political boundaries are being transformed as ethnic boundaries.
By promoting the idea of ethnic homelands, GoI has been sowing seeds of discord and animosity among different communities which were living together in complete harmony since ages, continued the rebel leader.
Such ideas and dreams of exclusive homelands resulted in devastating communal conflicts as seen in the 1990's.Instead of falling prey to GoI's nefarious policies, all the indigenous peoples of the so called North East must unite together and fight the common collectively so as to regain the lost sovereignty.
"Only then, we can achieve our common destiny", asserted the CorCom convenor.
Given GoI's politics of violence, military subjugation and economic suppression, people of the land need to chalk out new strategies, he continued.
If Manipur must be saved, indigenous peoples need to stand together and defeat GoI's divisive policies.
One must not forget that different communities collectively make up Manipur and they have been living together since ages.
Alleging that India is the common enemy of all the indigenous peoples, the rebel leader concluded the statement by calling upon all the indigenous peoples to unite together and intensify the ongoing war of liberation for this is the only way to ensure survival of the indigenes.
