Imphal, September 06 2026:
Intending candidate for Langthabal Assembly Constituency Lairenjam Maipak has said the upcoming election is a battle between truth and falsehood and truth will prevail, with the aim of building a developed Manipur and a developed Langthabal.
He was speaking at a reception cum political awareness programme organised by Youth Team L Maipak today at Mairenkhong Rising Club community hall, Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong.
Maipak, who took voluntary retirement as Superintending Engineer from the Rural Engineering Department to contest the 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, said he is entering politics to serve the people and bring all-round development and lasting peace.
Stating that voters must be vigilant on who to vote for and what will become of Manipur, he said if a candidate emerges promising peace but fails to deliver, he will not remain just a candidate and his security deposit will be forfeited.
The time has come for a people's representative who can take responsibility for the people suffering from conflict and killings, he added.
He alleged that many who did nothing for those suffering in relief camps are now pretending to love the people during elections and trying to buy votes.
Peace can return only when wrongdoers are punished as per law, he said.
Claiming that waterlogging in Langthabal AC after just two minutes of rain is not due to climate change but can be solved by changing the MLA, he promised to double crop all paddy fields, improve drainage, ensure pothole-free roads, prevent waterlogging in Kakwa, set up a library in every locality, provide coaching facilities for students, strengthen Government schools and generate employment.
The programme was attended by 11 former Members of Lilong Municipal Council, former polling agents and people from 40 polling stations of Langthabal AC .
