Alexander repairs Maram-Lakhami Road from his MLA's fund

The road stretching from Maram to Lakhamai via Purul in Senapati district, covering a distance of around 45 kms, has been lying in a deplorable condition causing lot of inconveniences to the people as the concerned department has failed to do the needful repairing work for quite some time.
The road stretch has also been badly damaged due to frequent landslides and the people passing along the road are suffering like anything.
Considering the problems being faced by the people, repairing of the deplorable road stretch from Maram to Lakhamai has been started under the initiative of local MLA Alexander Pao.
Accompanied by local village leaders and student activists, MLA Alexander Pao yesterday inspected the progress of the road repairing work.
Divisional Asst Engineer of PWD, Senapati and SDO Purul Block were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inspection visit, MLA Alexander Pao pointed out that next to the National Highway, the road from Maram to Lakhamai is the second most important road in Karong A/C.It is being used by people from 30 villages of the area.
But the stretch of the road has been badly hit by frequent landslides and water flowing down from the hill slopes, thus, causing lot of inconveniences to the people.
In order to overcome this problem, repairing of the road has been started with fund from his MLA's local area development fund, MLA Alexander Pao informed.
He further said that that due to the bad condition of the road which has been worsened by landslide and heavy rainfall in the last seven days, the people of the area, who have to pass along this road to get medical treatment, have been facing a lot of problems, apart student community.
MLA Alexander Pao appealed to the top officials of the concerned department and Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar for proper repairing of road in the interest of the people of the area.
The problems being faced by the people of the area cannot be solved altogether until the road is made fit for passing through, he added.
