15th State level Kachai Lemon Fest concludes

A 2 day 15th State Level Kachai Lemon festival organised by Kachai Fruit Farming & Processing Co-Operative Society Limited on the theme "Organic kachai lemon for safe environment and doubling farmer income" was concluded at Kachai local ground today.
Altogether 130 stalls were opened and displayed their products (lemon).
This year recorded highest number of lemon produces (15,000 metric tons) compared to previous year's and the size were also significantly larger.
Top producers of lemon for this year were also felicitated.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural function of the festival yesterday, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Additional Director Ng Ajit stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated several welfare schemes to double the income of the farmers.
Assuring that the Government will provide all possible help to the lemon farmers of Kachai, he urged them to work hard to produce the lemon abudantly.
Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) Project Director, K Debadutta Sharma urged the farmers to take timely help from the experts of ICAR, KVK and Horticulture in order to protect their lemons from pests.
He also spoke about the plan to establish one Integrated Pack House under the supervision of Forest Minister Shyamkumar to ease the selling of Kachai lemon.
MIDH Mission Director N Premananda Singh; Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Ukhrul, District Officer, M Kirankumar also spoke at the event.
LM Block SDO Robert Longjam and Board of Directors of Farmer Producer Company and members of Garden Care Ukhrul District under Horticulture and Soil Conservation also attended the event.
Meanwhile, one organic outlet for ROP Company Limited was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) president, Hopingson A Shimray, MIDH Mission Director, Premananda and MOMA Project Director, K Debadutta Sharma.
One Aggregation and Collection Unit constructed with the support of MOMA under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region was also inaugurated by Horticulture and Soil Conservation Additional Director Ng Ajit yesterday.
