Green signal for visa-on-arrival

Imphal, February 06 2013:
The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has given approval for visa-on-arrival facility at Moreh for Myanmarese Nationals coming to Manipur for medical treatment.
Reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao said that the approval for visa-on-arrival facility for Myanmarese Nationals was given at after a minute discussion on the matter during a meeting of the Ministry of External Affairs on January 31st last.
Following the approval, a notification was issued yesterday which also approves setting up of an immigration office at Moreh town.

Reports further informed that CM O Ibobi had earlier furnished written applications to the Ministry of External Affairs for keeping in place visa-on-arrival facility at Moreh for the convenience of the Myanmar citizens coming to Manipur for medical treatment.
However, there would be certain defined rules for applying visa-on-arrival by Myanmar citizens.
Application for the visa should be made 15 days ahead and it should indicate the name of the hospital where the applicant is to be treated.
The applicant or the patient can be accompanied by two of his/her attendants.
They can stay in Manipur for a month and should possess valid foreign passport, the reports added.
