Thoubal, July 23 2021:
Malom in Heirok assembly constituency has become the first fully vaccinated village of Thoubal district.
Expressing satisfaction on achieving the target, Heirok MLA Thokchom Radheshyam handed over cash incentive of Rs 10,000 to the local Covid Task Force on Friday in the presence of Heirok ZP member T Nungshi Singh, Lourembam GP pradhan nominee Khoirom Sanakhomba and club members.
While handing over the incentive, Radheshyam lauded the local residents for their cooperation in achieving the target.
Most of the people of Heirok AC are farmers and the constituency faced some setback in the progress of vaccination in the initial stage due to farming activities.
However, the initial monsoon farming activities are decreasing and the AC will witness higher turnout in vaccination soon, he said.
There are experts' reports of a possible deadlier third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination will be the only effective way to stay safe from the third wave, he said and appealed to all eligible people of his constituency to get their vaccine shots as soon as possible.
Mention may be made here that Malom has 354 people eligible for vaccination and all of them got their vaccines during a vaccination camp hosted jointly by Yaipha Lamjing Meira Club, Malom and local task force on Thursday.
Apart from the 354 locals, three other individuals from neighbouring villages also got their vaccine shots at the camp.
