Marginal dip in daily virus cases as state sees 11 deaths

Imphal, July 18 2021: The state on Sunday witnessed a slight fall in the daily spike as government bulletins reported 963 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 6174 samples tested in the last 24 hours, along with 11 death cases.

Mention may be made that Saturday registered a record spike of 1174 new cases with a positivity rate of 16.87 per cent and 15 fatalities.

Sunday registered 15.60 per cent positivity rate.

So far, the state has recorded 55,422 positive cases and 1002 death cases during the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw addition of 15,032 new cases and 226 fatalities out of which 7091 new cases and 104 fatalities were reported only in the last seven days.

According to official reports, all the 963 new cases (457 male & 506 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (22), JNIMS (38), District Hospitals (694) and other testing centres (209) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (201), Imphal West (268), Thoubal (81), Bishnupur (107), Kakching (87), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (110), Chandel (33), Senapati (9), Tamenglong (15), Jiribam (7), Pherzawl (1), Noney (4), Kamjong (3) and Kangpokpi (34) .

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee has reported 11 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (3), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1) and Chandel (2) .

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1376.However, other details of the death cases such as age, gender and vaccine status are not provided by the health authority.

In the last 24 hours, 723 patients were discharged from home isolation (295), RIMS (18), JNIMS (24), CCCs (168) and CHICs (218).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 84,822 (general population - 80,885 and CAPF personnel - 3,937).Number of recovered cases is 73,770 (general population - 69,924 and CAPF personnel - 3,846) and number of active cases is 9,676 (general population - 9,590 and CAPF personnel - 86) .

The recovery rate is 86.97 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 2320 D-type and 358 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 442D and 100B filled cylinders and stock distributions made to different districts and centres are Bishnupur (69D,0B), Chandel (29D,9B), Churachandpur (61D,0B), Senapati (43D0B), Thoubal (99D,32B), Ukhrul (33D,22B), Tamenglong (20D,0B), Jiribam (48D,13B), Moreh (17D,5B), Kamjong (3D,2B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (9D,15B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,0B) and CCCs (365D,107B) .

A total of 25,769 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 9,22,847 including 1,13,277 individuals who have got their second doses.

Till Saturday, number of patients admitted to different treatment facilities in the state against available bed strengths are RIMS (218/224), JNIMS (238/286), I Land Hospital (39/60), District Covid Facilities (159/347), MSF (25/30), Private Covid Hospitals (235/310) and CCCs (1553/2946).The grand total of admitted patients is 2467 and number of beds available is 1736 .

Meanwhile, total number of infected people has reached 4753 in Kakching district out of which 95 have died and 3955 have recovered.

As of Sunday, the district has 703 active cases, according to DSO Kakching.

A total of 48 new positive cases were detected in the district out of 308 samples tested from Saturday 2 pm to Sunday 2 pm.

Four cases were detected at Ema Hospital, 12 at Jivan Hospital, and 32 at different government RAT sites.

Five cases are from Chandel district and the remaining 43 are residents of Kakching district.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (29,140), Imphal East (18,685), Thoubal (7124), Churachandpur (7081), Kangpokpi (2076), Tamenglong (2471), Bishnupur (5853), Senapati (1592), Ukhrul (1609), Kakching (4667), Chandel (1468), Noney (669), Tengnoupal (870), Jiribam (856), Kamjong (502), and Pherzawl (159).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (477), Imphal East (341), Thoubal (124), Churachandpur (117), Kangpokpi (39), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (118), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (84), Chandel (22), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 27,335 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,338 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,23,042 tests per million population against the national average of 3,18,450 TPM.

Case fatality rate reduced to 1.62 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 6174 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 15.60 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.46 per cent.
