Drive against power theft carried out

Inorder to ensure uninterrupted power supply, the Manipur State Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MSPDCL) Senapati carried out an inspection drive against unauthorized power consumers and power theft in Senapati District Headquarters today.
Speaking in connection with the inspection drive, Khuveio David, Manager MSPDCL, Senapati Subdivision stated that the drive has been carried out to check power theft and unauthorised power consumers.
During the drive, various commercial outlets including motor workshops, welding centres, carpentry centres and educational institutions in the District Headquarters.
The unauthorized power consumers were instructed to register in the Department within 2-3 days failing which the power supply will be disconnected without further notice, he said.
To ensure that the residents receive regular power supply, he appealed to all to clear the electricity bills timely and refrain from illegal practices such as bypassing meter boxes etc.
The Manager further informed that the department will also conduct inspection drives at every household to streamline the power supply in the district.
Meanwhile, many consumers in the district raised grievances regarding erratic power supply which is hindering normal functioning.
They highlighted that the irregular power especially during the exam season poses immense inconveniences to the students.
Stressing that the regular power supply is key to effective functioning of various departmental functions and developmental measures, the consumers urged the relevant authorities to take up intense steps to ensure regular power supply in the district.
