Ukhrul, August 10 2025:
he Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Justice of AS Thotshang has demanded that no bail be granted to the accused involved in his murder until justice is delivered to the bereaved family.
According to a press statement issued by the JAC convener, Late AS Thotshang, s/o AS Chinaongam, a primary school teacher from Tashar Village, Ukhrul District was allegedly murdered on May 22, by a non-local person in Hungpung village.
Following the incident, the Tangkhul Naga Long, along with several Tangkhul CSOs including the JAC, had submitted a charter of demands to the Governor of Manipur seeking justice for the bereaved family.
However, even after nearly two months, the case remains unsolved, said the convenor.
The JAC reiterated its call for no bail to be granted to the accused, warning that any relaxation in the case would be seen as disregarding public sentiment.
It also cautioned the authorities concerned that they would be held responsible for any untoward incident arising from failure to
ensure justice for the slain teacher.
