State records 788 new positive cases, seven fatalities; 44 pc of patients on O2 support

Imphal, July 10 2021: In what could be supporting evidence to the statement issued by chief secretary on Friday specifying that all the new Covid cases are of Delta variant, 119 out of 120 samples sent for genome sequencing in the third batch returned positive for Delta variant.

With the 119 new confirmed cases of Delta variant, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of the highly transmissible variant of the virus in the state has reached 206 .

However, detailed information of the new 119 cases is not available till the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Saturday recorded 788 new cases registering daily positivity rate of 13.24 per cent, which is slight fall from Friday's 852 new cases and 15.78 per cent positivity rate.

With seven death cases, Saturday also recorded a dip in number of fatalities from Friday's 10 fatalities.

The active caseload has reached 6908 .

Despite the government's policy to reduce number of home isolation cases, the figure is still high as 2680 active cases, which sum up to around 39 per cent of the total active cases are in home isolation and 2264 are in CHICs.

As of Friday night, 860 patients were admitted to different hospitals and 332 of them are on oxygen support and 50 on ventilator/ NIV support.

Among those on oxygen support, 111 patients are in ICU/HDU facilities.

The figure suggests that at least 44 per cent of those admitted to Covid hospitals are on oxygen support.

On the other hand, 1104 patients are admitted to different CCCs with 97 on oxygen support.

As of Friday night, 2220 beds were available and they include 432 in different hospitals and 1802 in different CCCs.

According to official reports, all the 788 new cases (358 males & 430 females) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (22), JNIMS (80), District Hospitals (469) and other testing centres (217) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (190), Imphal West (285), Thoubal (55), Bishnupur (68), Kakching (56), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (74), Chandel (10), Senapati (11), Tamenglong (6), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (12), Pherzawl (1), Noney (5) and Kangpokpi (1) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 7 Covid-19 deaths (3 males & 4 females) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (1), Bishnupur (2) and Kakching (1) .

Four patients died at RIMS, two at JNIMS and one at Shija Hospitals.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1258 .

All the victims have not received vaccines while two of the victims were below 60 years of age.

Three died within 24 hours of arriving at hospital, one within 48 hours and another within 72 hours.

Two of them did not have any co-morbid conditions.

In the last 24 hours, 483 patients were discharged from home isolation (174), RIMS , (15), JNIMS (17), CCCs (167) and CHICs (110) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 76,820 (general population - 72,917 and CAPF personnel - 3,903) .

Number of recovered cases is 68,654 (general population - 64,846 and CAPF personnel - 3,808) and number of active cases is 6,908 (general population - 6,818 and CAPF personnel - 90).The recovery rate is 89.36 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1670 D-type and 379 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 431D and 93B medical oxygen cylinders while stock distributions made in the last 24 hours include Bishnupur (97D,0B), Chandel (33D,5B), Churachandpur (61D0B), Senapati (39D,0B), Thoubal (61D,30B), Ukhrul (22D18B), Tamenglong (18D,0B), Jiribam (48D,12B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Moreh (20D,7B), Kangpokpi (2D,0B), Kakching (19D,18B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,0B) and CCCs (356D,105B) .

On Friday, 13,105 individuals were administered Covid vaccines and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 7,71,102 including 93,380 who have got their second shot.

Meanwhile, 60 new cases have been detected out of 295 samples tested in Kakching district from Friday 2 pm to Saturday 2 pm.

One case was detected at Ema Hospital, two at Jivan Hospital and 57 at different government RAT sites.

One of the patients is from Bishnupur while the rest are residents of Kakching district.

According to DSO Kakching, the cumulative number of infected persons has reached 4182 in the district and out of them, 3444 have recovered and 83 have died while the active caseload is 655.As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (26,799), Imphal East (16,911), Thoubal (6448), Churachandpur (6264), Kangpokpi (1929), Tamenglong (2197), Bishnupur (5059), Senapati (1473), Ukhrul (1539), Kakching (4067), Chandel (1291), Noney (605), Tengnoupal (830), Jiribam (790), Kamjong (467) and Pherzawl (151).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (440), Imphal East (324), Thoubal (119), Churachandpur (103), Kangpokpi (34), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (98), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (73), Chandel (18), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (6), Jiribam (4), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 24,757 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,115 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,06,041 tests per million population against the national average of 3,07,816 TPM.

Case fatality rate reduced to 1.64 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 5950 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 13.24 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.09 per cent.
