Imphal, May 10 2024: A Havildar of 1st IRB was killed in a suspected case of accidental firing at Yaiskul Police Lane in the morning today.

The deceased has been identified as Havildar Longjam Nandakumar (52) of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai and he was posted as a guard at the residence of Justice Aribam Guneshwar Sharma at Yaiskul.

Reportedly, Havildar Nandakumar accidentally fired two rounds from his service weapon (MP-5 Rifle) inside the security barrack and he was found lying dead with two bullet marks on his forehead.

Soon after hearing the gun shot, other security personnel rushed inside the barrack and found Nandakumar lying dead.

A team of Imphal Police Station rushed to the spot and carried out an inquest of the body and its surrounding areas.

The corpse has been handed over to his family after an autopsy at RIMS morgue.
