Seven fatalities, 775 new positive cases reported
Twin Imphal districts contribute 58 pc of total case; 371 patients on o2 support, 40 on ventilators

Imphal, June 09 2021: The state on Wednesday reported seven fatalities and 775 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 8944 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thereby presenting a positivity rate of 8.67 per cent, slightly higher than that of Tuesday's.Meanwhile, 58.79 per cent of the total cases of the state are reported in Imphal West and Imphal East with the two districts having 20,452 and 13264 total cases respectively.

Pherzawl is the least affected district with only 81 cases so far.

With the addition of 775 new cases, the caseload in the state swelled to 9307 on Wednesday out of which 4175 are in home isolation and the remaining 5132 undergoing treatment in different healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.

Since the beginning of the current year, the state had reported 29,163 positive cases and 560 fatalities against 28,118 positive cases and 355 fatalities reported last year.

The current month witnessed addition of 6600 new cases and 108 fatalities of which 5073 new cases and 76 fatalities were reported in the last seven days.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported seven Covid-19 deaths (5 male & 2 female) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Kakching (1) and Churachandpur (1) .

Three died at JNIMS, two at RIMS and one each at Babina and DH Churachandpur.

Three of them are under 60 years of age and none of them have any co-morbid conditions.

The cumulative number of deaths from Covid-19 in the state now stands at 915.According to official bulletins, all the 775 people (419 male & 356 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (10), JNIMS (21), District Hospitals (515) and other testing centres (229), The positive cases are from Imphal East (165), Imphal West (237), Thoubal (112), Bishnupur (48), Kakching (57), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (109), Chandel (10), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (1), Tengnoupal (4), Kangpokpi (13), Jiribam (8) and Noney (2) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 602 patients were discharged, out of which 367 are from home isolation, seven from RIMS, eight from JNIMS and 220 from other Covid care facilities.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 57,351 (general population - 53,584 and CAPF personnel - 3,767) .

Number of recovered cases is 47,129 (general population - 43,368 and CAPF personnel - 3,761) and number of active cases is 9,307 (general population - 9,306 and CAPF personnel - 1) .

The recovery rate is 82.18 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1401 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 552B- type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District Hospitals and government institutions have 403D and 87B filled cylinders while the district/sub-division wise stock position is Bishnupur (76D,7B), Chandel (32D,7B), Churachandpur (82D,0B), Thoubal (63D,22B), Senapati (32D,0B), Ukhrul (19D,4B), Tamenglong (22D,5B), Jiribam (36D,10B), Moreh (26D,5B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (5D,0B), Kakching (9D,24B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D,2B) .

As of Tuesday, 4,41,745 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and 81,044 of them have got their second dose while 719 patients were undergoing treatment in Covid hospitals, district hospitals, CHCs and PHCs with dedicated Covid wards and 1148 patients in Covid Care Centres.

Out of them, 371 patients were on oxygen support which included 310 patients in Covid hospitals and 61 in CCCs.

Moreover, another 40 patients were on ventilator support.

However, the data does not include status of JNIMS.

Meanwhile, 58 new positive cases have been detected in Kakching on Wednesday with two confirmed at Ema Hospital, 14 at Jivan Hospital and the remaining 42 at Government RAT Centre.

One person is from Imphal West and one from Thoubal district while the rest are from Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (20,452), Imphal East (13,264), Thoubal (4479), Churachandpur (4336), Kangpokpi (1528), Tamenglong (1897), Bishnupur (3245), Senapati (1278), Ukhrul (1194), Kakching (2510), Chandel (973), Noney (525), Tengnoupal (573), Jiribam (590), Kamjong (426) and Pherzawl (81).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (340), Imphal East (250), Thoubal (83), Churachandpur (70), Kangpokpi (23), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (57), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (12), Kakching (44), Chandel (13), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 18,482 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 20,951 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,52,464 tests per million population against the national average of 2,65,814 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.60 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 8944 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.67 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate stands at 7.32 per cent.
