Tree plantation drive held

In response to the recent arrest of individuals involved in illegal tree felling at Chingyang Uyung Pareng under Mondum Reserve Forest on July 27, the Forest Department along with the villagers of the area carried out a tree plantation drive aimed at ecological restoration of the degraded area.
The plantation drive was initiated under the supervision of Thoubal Forest Division, DFO Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee and was led by Kakching Forest Range Officer, Huidrom Sundar.
Staff from the Kakching Forest Range and Wangoo Beat, including Beat Officer Longjam Ramananda, along with students and faculty of Green Ground Academy, Meira Paibis and local residents of Wangoo Laifam Khunou actively participated in the event.
Speaking in this connection, Range Officer Huidrom Sundar said that the initiative was launched to repair the damage caused to the forest structure due to recent deforestation activities.
He called upon citizens to support efforts in safeguarding natural habitats and restoring lost green cover, underscoring the need for continued awareness and collective environmental responsibility.
