Power supply to be affected, 25 arrested for power theft

The Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) has informed all concerned that there will be no power supply for a few days in areas supplied by 33/11kV Usiopokpi SubStation due to failure of 3.15 MVA Power Transformer.
In a release, MSPCL stated that the 3.15 MVA Power Transformer was damaged by the direct lightning strike during a recent thunderstorm on the early morning of March 2, 2025 .
"Our Technical team is actively working to resolve the issue at the earliest.
The inconvenience caused to the general public and consumers is highly regretted", said MSPCL.
Meanwhile, Twenty-Five consumers were arrested for power theft by officers and staff of Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) during raids conducted across various districts today.
As per a press release issued by MSPDCL, 1 was arrested from Kwakeithel-I Sub-Division; 1 from Takyel Sub-Division; 4 from Lamlai Sub-Division; 1 from Kakching Sub-Division; 6 from Sugnu Sub-Division; 1 from Yairipok Sub-Division; 7 from Bishnupur Sub-Division; 2 from Tamenglong Sub-Division; and 2 from Jiribam Sub-Division.
Additionally, the officials disconnected the power connection of 14 consumers.
