MIT scandal :: GB resolves to handover case to CBI

The Governing Body (GB) of Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) has resolved to handover the misappropriation case against its former Principal Dr Th Kullachandra to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Imphal Branch.
According to a highly placed source, the decision of the Governing Body was taken on December 9 after going through the report of one man inquiry commission of retired IAS officer RK Angousana.
The commission conducted a thorough inquiry into the misappropriation case against Dr Kullachandra for about two months.
Several evidences against the former Principal were gathered during the course of inquiry.
As a follow-up action, the Governing Body resolved to lodge an FIR at CBI, Imphal Branch for investigation into the misappropriation case against Dr Kullachandra.
The Governing Body also decided to put up advertisements for filling up the vacant post of Regular Principal of the Institute, the source added.
It may be mentioned that the students of MIT protested vehemently demanding the authorities of Manipur University to remove Dr Kullachandra from the Principal's post.
Subsequently, Dr Kullachandra was removed and a one man inquiry commission of retired IAS officer RK Angousana was set up by the Governing Body of MIT to investigate whether former Principal Dr Kullachandra had misappropriated the funds of the institute during his tenure from 2011 to September, 2013 and mismanaged the institute in utter disregard of the welfare of students and teachers.
