CAU signs MoU with Green Biotech EcoSolutions

Imphal, June 17 2019: xWith an objective to start up entrepreneurship using the high quality pineapple of the State, Central Agricultural University, Imphal has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Biotech EcoSolutions Private Limited in the mini conference hall of Vice Chancellor Secretariat's office, CAU, Lamphelpat.

The MoU was signed by the Dean, CAU, Imphal Dr AN Ganeshamurthy and Director of Research, CAU, Dr CA Srinavasamurthy as witness with Dr Asem Sundari and Yumnam Geetashori of GBE in the presence of Vice Chancellor, Prof M Premjit Singh, CAU, Imphal for transferring of two unique food processing technologies developed by College of Agriculture, CAU to Green Biotech EcoSolutions Pvt Ltd.

Speaking to media person, VC Prof M Premjit Singh said that the two unique technologies will be used in making osmology ally dehydrated pineapple ring, RTS (ready to serve) pineapple juice blended with ginger and cinnamon flavours etc.

The VC also said that several value added products can be made from pineapple (Queen and Kew varieties), which are the most sought after pineapple in Manipur.

Saying that development and commercialisation of such products will shed light on sustainable exploration of pineapple and address the challenge of food and nutritional security in the region, he lamented that setting up of such processing industry will provide employment to the people living in the region.

Dr Asem Sundari and Yumnam Geetashori extended their gratitude to CAU, Imphal for transferring the technologies.

It may be mentioned that the technologies were developed by Dr Ng Joykumar Singh, Assistant Professor (SG), Dr H Dayanidhi Singh, Assistant Professor (Food Chemistry), Sorouv Das, Technician (Food Technology), Achom Jitson, Junior Research Fellow under the project "Establishment of CAU-DBT Rural Innovation Cluster for Livelihood Security in Chandel District of Manipur for Development of Value Added Pineapple Products".

Green Biotech EcoSolutions Private Limited is the first and leading bio-fertiliser and bio-pesticides manufacturing cum marketing company of the State.

It is located at Lamsang Laingamkhul Spinning Mill Road, Imphal West.
