45th annual conference held

Jiribam, February 10 2018:
The Manipuri Sahitya Parishad (MSP), Jiribam organised its two-days 45th annual conference at the auditorium hall of Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Jiribam today.
The open session of the conference was graced by Kh ongbi Janki Devi, Adhyaksha of Jiribam District as chief guest while Sambanduram Khagendro Singh, president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Jiribam as functional president and Ngangom Basanta Kumar Singh, general secretary of Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Assam as special guest and L Ranjit Kumar Singh, Principal of Jiribam Higher Secondary School as guest of honour.
During the session a book, "Amangba Nonglakta", written by Moirangthem Malaya Devi was released in which mementos and gift were presented to veteran writer and Sahitya Bhusan awardee, Sinam Tanubabu Singh.
Later, in the evening session a seminar on historical background of Jiribam was held where scholars presented and talked about settlement of different communities in Jiribam.
Dr S Arunkumar Singh, Assistant Professor of Jiri College presented a paper on "Meitei and Meitei Pangal settlement in Jiribam", Md Komor Uddin presented paper on "Bangali Muslim settlement in Jiribam", Jacob Panmei, Journalist on "Tribal settlement in Jiribam" and L Rajen Singh on "Bangali Hindu Settlement in Jiribam" .
The seminar was attended by Wangkhem Saratchandra as a moderator.
