Imphal, June 03 2014:
The newly appointed president of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress MLA Th Shyamkumar was felicitated by members of the party's Mahila and Youth wings today.
During the felicitation programme held at the official quarters of MLA Shyamkumar here, a jubilant crowd of MPTC workers and leaders, mostly from Mahila and Youth wings honoured Shyamkumar by offering garlands.
Shyamkumar returned from New Delhi to Imphal this morning.
They welcomed and congratulated him on becoming a full-fledged president of the State Trinamool Congress.
Declining any question on possible split in MPTC, Shyamkumar told the media that certain communication gap had created the recent crisis within the party, but now everything has been resolved.
Assuring media that his party will work towards bringing progress for the State and the country as a whole, Shyamkumar said he will take initiative to reconsolidate the position of State Trinamool Congress.
Responding to a media query, the Andro A/C MLA said he has been appointed as the new president of MPTC by All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) leadership after the party's rout in the recent Lok Sabha polls in Manipur.
Acknowledging that Trinamool Congress has its own code of conduct which every member needs to uphold and respect, he said the party has seven members in the current Manipur Legislative Assembly and all these MLAs are still with the party.
They contested the last State assembly election on the tickets given by AITC and therefore there is no separate party called Manipur Trinamool Congress as claimed by some in the media.
