Imphal, August 29 2009: Noting that inspite of relentless public pressure to resign on moral ground in connection with the July 23 firing at BT Road Okram Ibobi Singh is nonchalantly clinging on as the Chief Minister, the opposition MPP said it would resort to fresh movement for dissolution of the State Assembly in order to ensure Ibobi's ouster.

Addressing a public gathering at Langmeidong Bazar today, MPP president Dr Nimaichand luwang said it had been a normal precedent that a responsible and committed Chief Minister gives up the post at the slightest error in commenting or in action.

ironically, the Chief Minister is very composed in not only defying the ever increasing calls for resigning on moral ground for the BT road carnage but seems to be determined to hold onto the post, opined Dr Nimaichand addressing the MPP-organised protest cum public dialogue which is the first of the party's campaign to be held across Thoubal district.

He also confided that with the CM seemingly unmoved and remaining indifferent to the general sentiment of the people the MPP would launch fresh movement that would culminate with the dissolution of the State Assembly.

Claiming that from the post mortem report of the July 23 victims namely Th Rabina Devi and Ch Sanjit it could be concluded that the young pregnant woman was hit by a rifle bullet whereas Sanjit was shot at close range, the former Minister also alleged that fake encounters being staged here in the state is at the behest of the Congress-ruled Government in the Centre.

Reiterating that drama of fake killings being perfected by security forces deployed in Manipur could not be from the cerebral range of O Ibobi Singh but is being carried at the directive of the UPA Government, Dr Nimaichand also cautioned the general public to stay alert as prompt approval by the Centre for fresh recruitment of more IRB and commando units is to incite animosity and trigger bloodshed among the indigenous people.

Speaking at the occasion, former Union Minister Thounaojam Chaoba asserted that as Ibobi Singh had been maintaining a tough posture and deliberately ignoring genuine public demand to resign on moral ground it is now the obligation of the Congress party legislators, the MPCC, Central leaderships as well as AICC leaders to heal wounds of the Manipuri society post-BT road incident.

MPP's L Jatra, who was a former legislator from Khangabok AC accused the SPF Government of not only failing to maintain law and order in the state but also encouraging wanton killings through conferring of gallantry awards to security personnel.

He also demanded that as the Chief Minister had misled elected members of the Assembly it is unjustifiable that O Ibobi Singh is still the Leader of the House.
