Senapati: DM extends curbs in some areas till May 29

In view of the rising Covid positive cases in the district amid the second wave, District Magistrate, Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari has extended the 'containment period' of Senapati Headquarters, Maram Bazar, Tadubi Town and Mao Town till May 29 .
As per findings of the Medical Department and observing the trend of the spread of the disease in the market areas and other locations, it has become extremely difficult to do contact tracing as the areas include some of the most crowded places of the district, the DM said.
Earlier, a District Task Force meeting on Covid-19 held on May 20, chaired by PHE Minister L Dikho in the presence of the District Magistrate, had felt the need to extend the containment period for effective contact tracing and breaking the chain of Covid spread in the district.

The given schedule of jurisdiction includes Tusii Ngaonii Khumai (TNK) in the east, Kathikho Karong in the north, Taphou Naga and Katomei in the west and Taphou Liangmai in the south for Senapati Headquarters, Maram Town, Tadubi Town and Mao Town areas.
With the areas being declared as containment zones, the following measures such as sealing of the geographical area, restriction on the entry and exit of the population within the containment zones, initiating active surveillance of COVID-19 cases and banning public gathering of any type have been put in place.
However, vehicles carrying essential commodities, oxygen, LPG and oil tankers, and service providers like power supply, fire service, water supply, waste and garbage collection, PIDS, Telecom, electronic and print media, airport duties and vehicles of other permitted departments have been exempted from the purview of the restrictions.
Works of both State and National projects carried out within the district; home delivery of essential commodities (including supplementary nutrition for children, pregnant & lactating mothers, food items, vegetables, groceries, fish feeds, animal feeds & milk products, medical institutions including pharmacies; people going for vaccination, Covid testing and those of child protection services, health care workers and frontline workers carrying out COVID-19 related duties as assigned by the District Magistrate, banking services with limited staff from 10 am to 2.30 pm, ATM services and vehicle repairing workshops along the National Highway-2, agriculture and related activities with proper SOPs maintained are also allowed to resume activities.
The order will be effective till May 29 or until further orders whichever is earlier.
