Imphal, July 21 2016:
Holding the Congress party responsible for drafting, introducing and passing the three infamous 'anti-tribal' Bills in the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31, 2015, the Outer Manipur Tribals' Forum (OMTF) and JAC Against Anti-Tribal Bills in a joint meeting held at Haokip Veng, Imphal on July 18 have resolved to boycott the Congress party in all tribal areas of Manipur with effect from the day (July 18) .
According the proceedings of the joint meeting which was made available to the press, the Congress party is not allowed to have any activity in all tribal areas and their office shall be locked with immediate effect.
Any political party, whether National or regional which work against the interest of the tribal will meet the same fate as the Congress party.
Urging the Govt of India to resolve the issue regarding two of the three 'infamous anti tribal' Bills and the nine 'tribal martyrs' who await justice and their last rites before August 11, the OMTF and JACAATB said they will be compelled to start democratic form of agitation including boycott of the 69th Indian Independence Day celebration.
The joint meeting, chaired by Gaidon Kamei, president, UNC also resolved to reaffirm the boycott of all tribal MLAs and the lone tribal MP of Manipur who failed to hear the cry of their people (whom they represent) with regard to the infamous "3 anti-tribal Bills" passed by the 'communal' and 'anti-tribal' Government of Manipur.
The boycott still stands and they are banned from any activities or movement in the tribal areas of Manipur.
If they do so the OMTF and JACAATB will not be responsible for any untoward and unwanted incident, it averred.
Any individual or organisation who aid/cooperate/stand with them will be branded as 'anti-tribal' and shall be at their own risk.
The meeting also resolved that a delegation of the OMTF and JACAATB will meet the Governor of Manipur at the earliest and submit a memorandum regarding two of the three 'anti-tribal' Bills which are under examination by experts.
It also resolved that a joint delegation of OMTF and JACAATB after meeting with the Governor will go to Delhi to apprise the situation to the Central leaders.
Realising the need for a separate political entity for the tribals of Manipur, the meeting resolved to call a wider consultation and awareness campaign at the earliest, it said.
The joint meeting further resolved that August 31 be observed as 'Tribal Unity Day' in Manipur every year.
